Today a fabulous football game was played and peep
show broke out at halftime.
Not only will Super Bowl XXXVIII go down as one
of the best - most exciting Super Bowl games ever
played, it will also be remembered for very prominent
R rated moment - Janet Jackson's bare breast.

Isn't this supposed to be a family event?
I mean, really, I know all the guys loved it, and
the older guys with erectile dysfunction stood up
and cheered, but come on, what's up here (yes, pun
intended)?
Justin clearly meant to pull off a part of Janet
Jackson's costume, and Janet conveniently had her
boob nicely decorated with a sunburst design. Accident?
Costume malfunction? Give me a freakin' break.
I just hope my grandchildren were bored by the game
and were elsewhere at half time when the boob appeared
on the boob tube.
If you were silly enough to pay $19.99 for a little
T&A at halftime for the Lingerie Bowl, then you
really got screwed because the best T&A was right
there on CBS and it was free!
Justin Timberlake offered this "limp" apology, "I
am sorry that anyone was offended by the wardrobe
malfunction during the halftime performance of the
Super Bowl." "It was not intentional and is regrettable."
Super Bowl halftime, perhaps the biggest stage for
maximum exposure, this was no accident.
Football fans might enjoy the commercials featuring
crotch jokes, horses with gas, and a horny monkey,
but why oh why are we being subjected to erectile
dysfunction ads? Perhaps the funniest line of all
was actually unintentional, coming at the end of
an ad for Cialis "Erections lasting more than four
hours, while rare, require immediate medical help." Really?
A Full Monty sideshow TV viewers did not see took
place at the start of the second half as a guy dressed
as an official ran onto the field tossed off his
ref's uniform and did a dance in his G-string. The
streaker was tackled as he ran off the field, by
Pats linebacker Matt Chatham.
Cell phones, Sharpies, these antics seem pretty
tame in the face of a bouncing breast.
Those viewing the game in other parts of the world,
(particularly those 300 million Chinese viewing our
national sporting event for the first time in history)
must have been thinking, wow, those Americans, they
may not be able to find Osama but they sure know
how to find low humor in high places.
And now for the game:
Super Bowl XXXVII had it all. It was a scoreless,
defensive battle for the first 27 minutes. Football
purists could not have scripted the start of the
game any better. Two tough defenses trading punches
and keeping the offenses off balance and unable to
score. The Pats drove downfield but Vinatieri missed
a chip shot field goal, and had another one tipped.
Experts had predicted this would be a low scoring
affair, and perhaps a less than entertaining football
game. Wrong, yet again.
After trading defensive blows for over a quarter
the offensive explosion began, and 1 billion viewers
worldwide watched the scoring floodgates open wide.
The defensive struggle suddenly became whiplash football
as these defensive juggernauts started scoring at
will.
24 points scored in three minutes
37 points in the fourth quarter
6 TD passes thrown by Jake Delhomme and Tom Brady
24 points scored in the final 3:05 of the second
quarter
649 net passing yards a Super Bowl record
In the fourth quarter with 7:38 remaining and the
Pats ahead 21-16, Jake Delhomme drove the Panthers
90 yards for the go-ahead touchdown. By this time
the game was an all-out shootout. Then it was Brady's
turn and with the score 22-21 Panthers, Brady led
the Pats on a 68 yard drive ending in a 1-yard touchdown
pass to linebacker Mike Vrabel giving New England
the lead, once again, 22-29 with 2:51 left in the
game.
Now it's Delhomme's turn. Jake then led the Cats
on an 81-yard drive for a 12-yard touchdown pass
to Ricky Proehl and a 29-29 tie with 1:08 remaining.
The Panthers kick went out of bounds giving the
Patriots the ball on the 40-yard line. Brady drove
the team 37 yards on 6 plays to set up Vinatieri's
game winning field goal to win 32-29 with :04 seconds
left on the clock.
This was a tremendous game, the type of game the
NFL loves, the networks love, and football fans dream
of.
Do you still wonder why the NFL has won the hearts
of America ?
Oh the agony of waiting until kick-off in September.
