ESPN's sports trivia sultan, Howie Schwab, gives me his take on the Miami Heat, college basketball so far and the National Football League.
The Miami Heat have had a horrible losing streak. Is it time for Coach Pat Riley to step down? Do they need to make some player changes in the off-season ?
Yes, it is time for Riley to step down. The Heat got old quickly even with Dwayne Wade. They need a good draft pick and there should be plenty of good prospects available like Michael Beasley (Kansas State), Eric Gordon (Indiana University), and Derrick Rose (Memphis University).
The college basketball regular season is well under way. Have there been any surprise teams? Who do you think could be doing better than they are?
I think one of the biggest surprises is Drake University . Last in the NCAA in 1971 and picked ninth of ten teams in the Missouri Valley Conference preseason poll, the Bulldogs are in top 25. Arkansas is one team that has been disappointing along with Kentucky and Southern Illinois .
There have been a lot of people saying New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady could be the greatest play the game. Is he? Who do you have as your top five quarterbacks?
I love this question. Do you limit to Super Bowl era or do you go all-time? Guys like Otto Graham (Cleveland Browns) and Sid Luckman (Chicago Bears) rate consideration then. I will answer that if Brady wins this Super Bowl, he will be in the same conversation with Joe Montana, Dan Marino, John Elway , and Brett Favre , not necessarily in that order.
Who will win the Super Bowl-the New York Giants or the New England Patriots? Why?
Patriots by 10. The New York Giants must pressure Brady and New York must avoid turnovers. The team was -9 in the regular season in turnover margin and they have cleaned that up in postseason-that is a key.
Who are your top four picks in the National Football League draft in April?
I will hold up on my top four picks other than to say guys like Jake Long ( University of Michigan ) and Chris Long ( Virginia University ) are going to be very good for their teams.
