I have discovered that my words can move people in more ways than one. My opinions can generate hundreds of more opinions. I'm not out to get people angry, and I'm not out to write something to induce controversy. I write because I love writing. I write about sports because I love sports. Two passions in life is a luxury. I have worked hard to keep my skills in the same range as the passion I have for life, so don't feel short-changed by my age, sex or race. An Asian girl in her twenties can write just as well as a middle-aged white man.
I was born in San Francisco , CA , but was raised in a suburban town 45 minutes away from the city. Now that I'm a young adult, I moved back to the city I've been in love with since the first day of my life. I am a student at San Francisco State University with a major in journalism. I hope to practice ethical journalism and convince people that journalists aren't all bad people. I strongly believe that good journalism is possible.
I have been writing since middle school, where I discovered I had the power to move people with my writing after my English teacher drew a smiley face next to an A+ on my first essay. As an 11-year-old child, I thought I had the power to make my teacher smile with my essay. Well, I guess the world isn't so complicated when you're naïve.
I started playing sports since I could walk. Throughout my life, I've played, coached and watched all kinds of sports. Now I have fallen in love with baseball and the San Francisco Giants.
Baseball means a lot to me. I think when someone goes through life without being passionate about something, then they mind as well not be living at all. Baseball is my passion.
There's no feeling more special than the one you get when you walk into a ballpark. Its vastness, its greatness. All your problems are gone, and your life is put on hold because another part of you starts living. It's incredible, and I love every second of it.
